Early solutions of problems of a particular type contain every step. Later solutions leave out steps considered unnecessary. These solutions are designed to be representative of a student’s work. Keep in mind that many problems will have more than one correct solution. The authors have attempted to stay as close as possible to the methods and procedures outlined in the textbook. The final answers have been set in boldface type in order that they may be easily seen for grading purposes.
